Committees
MLS Executive Committee
The Multiple Listing Service Executive Committee is comprised of representatives from each general community served by COAR. This committee is tasked with oversight of the provision of MLS products and services provided to its members, including the Internet-based property listing system, policy and contemplation of future services for the COAR community.
Government Affairs Committee
COAR is not an extension of the MLS. It is the principal trade association for your profession. Advocacy is what COAR is all about. Our Government Affairs program continues to develop and establish the relationships that help local government officials understand and appreciate the importance of REALTORS® in the community. COAR's involvement with local governments, and its insight into the industry, yields important benefits for members. REALTORS® can count on COAR to represent their collective interests-and be heard. For most associations advocacy is rated as the single greatest asset of membership.
Professional Standards and Grievance Committees
The function of the Grievance Committee is clearly distinguishable from that of the Professional Standards Committee. The Grievance Committee receives ethics complaints and arbitration requests to determine if a hearing is warranted.
The Professional Standards Committee holds Hearing Panels to hear matters of alleged unethical conduct, or to provide arbitration as requested.
Public Relations Committee
Mission - Effectively communicate with the public and members the roles, policies, values and benefits of Central Oregon Association of REALTORS® (COAR).
Goal - Enhance the public perception of REALTORS® and establish the value that our profession provides. Facilitate communications within COAR membership regarding education, policies, leadership activities (board, committees, and staff), governmental affairs and industry news.
Objectives - To continually build the image of REALTORS® within the communities of Central Oregon. To promote the value of using a REALTOR® in real estate transactions with buyers and sellers of real estate in Central Oregon.
COARPAC Committee
As COAR's local political action committee COARPAC provides a voice for more than 1,500 REALTORS® in Central Oregon. With the support of members region wide, COARPAC makes a difference in the political process through campaign participation and contributions. COARPAC amplifies the small contributions from hundreds of members by aggregating them into large donations to candidates that support REALTOR® issues.
Social Committee
The Social Committee plans, publicizes and holds social activities to enhance the networking and social interaction of COAR members. These activities occur quarterly and are designed to bring members to each others’ communities, to bring them together in a casual setting.
