Special needs clients make up approximately 25% of the clients we interact with every day.  All of them are unique and there is no repeatable formula or “one size fits all” when working with clients with a specific disability or special need. However, there are some best practices and mistakes to avoid. Most importantly, Realtors should focus on Compassion, Responsibility and Service when working with special needs clients.

After attending this session:

Attendees will have a better understanding of how to interact with special needs clients. Attendees will learn best practices and common mistakes to avoid when working with special needs clients and will understand how Compassion, Responsibility and Service should be our focus when working with special needs clients.

Taught by: John Young

John Young is a top REALTOR® for RE/MAX in the metropolitan Washington DC area, a Regional Vice President for the Residential Real Estate Council and a national speaker. His personal and professional life were permanently transformed in 2009 when he and his wife became the parents of a child with non-verbal autism. John began speaking nationally on serving clients with special needs and the importance of helping others after realizing there was no ‘manual’ to provide guidance, direction and support when encountering these clients. He has spoken at the NAR Conference & Expo, RRC Sell-a-bration conferences, Genuine Hustle, and for many state and local associations. This past year, John was proud to have been chosen to serve on the NAR Diversity Committee and the Maryland REALTORS® Leadership Development Committee. John brings his passion for helping others to everything he does and strives to make a positive difference in our industry for both clients and fellow REALTORS®.

Today’s hyper-connected consumer is difficult to manage and even harder to please. With information (and misinformation) at their fingertips, it is challenging to navigate their questions and demands. In this session we will show you how to use the client counseling session to neutralize concerns, establish real- istic expectations, and help your clients reach their goals.
